Just finished watching the Florida Panthers and the New York Islanders game won by the Islanders 2-1. The Islanders will play the Lightning in the 2nd of the playoffs. The Lightning will have home ice advantage in this series and should beat the Islanders in 6 games. I’ll preview the series later this week.
–Wll tonite be the night that The real Chris Archer finally makes his first appearance for the season? I know this is Archer’s 5th start, but he has been horrendous, 0-4 and 7,38 ERA. He has to get it going sometime. Tonight against first place Baltimore would be a fine time to start.
–There’s talk the Bucs my take a defensive lineman as Noah Spence or Joey Bosa may fall to the Bucs at No. 9. Either of these guys would be a good addition to the team. But you would hate to leave a Jalen Ramsey or Vernon Hargraves on the board. I just think as bad as the DB play was last year, you have to take a DB.
–Here’s how 3 of the Players the Rays picked up in the off season to bolster their offense are doing. Logan Morrison is hitting .080. Brad Miller .115. Hank Conger .182. No wonder the Rays are struggling at 8-10. I know it’s only April But C’mon Man! Oh Yea Corey Dickerson who came over from the Rockies is Hitting .259.
–Although he won the GM of the year award last you are. I think Steve Yzerman should again be considered this year. Not by what he did, but what he did’nt do. The Lightning were struggling at the trade deadline and pressure was mounting to make a move to shake up the team. Yzerman did nothing sending a vote of confidence through the locker room. Kudo’s to Yzerman for staying the course.
–Have the Lightning missed Steven Stamkos this abbreviated playoff run so Far?
–The Bucs drafted 4 starters in last years draft. How many starters will they get in this years draft?
–Drew Smyly and Erasmo Ramirez have been the best pitchers for the Rays so far earning 5 out of the 8 wins.
–The Rays bullpen has been better than anticipated so far with the loss of Boxberger
